How to Prepare for Your Bridal Makeup Trial

A successful makeup trial ensures you and your artist are on the exact same page. Here is how to prepare to get the most out of your session.

How to Prepare for Your Bridal Makeup Trial

Your makeup trial is essentially a dress rehearsal for your face. It is the time to experiment, communicate, and lock in a look that makes you feel spectacular. Here is how to prepare.

Bring the Right References

"Natural" means something different to everyone. Bring photos of makeup looks you love, but more importantly, bring photos of people who have similar skin tones and eye shapes to yours. A look on a fair-skinned model with hooded eyes will translate completely differently on deep skin with almond eyes.

Wear the Right Colors

Don't show up to your trial in a neon green t-shirt if your wedding dress is ivory. The color you wear reflects onto your face and changes how the makeup reads. Wear a white or ivory top with a neckline similar to your wedding dress.

Arrive with Clean Skin

Come with a completely bare face, but follow your normal skincare routine. This gives the artist a true understanding of your skin's texture and behavior.

Be Honest

If you don't like something, say it! As professional artists, our feelings aren't hurt if you think the blush is too pink or the brows are too dark. This is exactly what the trial is for. Speak up so we can adjust the look until it is 100% perfect.
